The Society was formed in 1977 to provide a forum for the privileged and confidential exchange of views, opinions and experiences between senior finance and treasury officials of major corporations.

The Society holds a convention each year, alternately in Europe and North America.  Prominent guest speakers are invited, members give presentations describing their own experiences in treasury operations, but the main purpose is the opportunity to network with talented people in other business areas, in a friendly, open-minded, and non-competitive atmosphere. Newer entrants to Treasury are able to mix with, and learn from, experienced treasury executives.

Membership is restricted to corporations with minimum sales of USD 400m p.a. or equivalent.  Banks, independent financial service companies and consultants are not eligible for membership.

"I would like to advise you that the Society has now completed the move of its administrative arrangements to the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT). This arrangement will give us more flexibility and support for the Society at a lower cost going forward. A welcome note from the Chief Executive of the ACT, Richard Raeburn, is below with the new contact details. Apart from these changed contact details, you should see no other real difference in the way you deal

with the Society. The Council will soon be looking to arrange events sometime in 2007 and I look forward to seeing you there at that time."

David Blackwood - Group Treasurer, ICI PLC and Chairman of SIT

"On behalf of the ACT I would like to add a note of welcome from our team.  As Chief Executive of the ACT I am

delighted that we can provide this service to the SIT and look forward to working with the SIT Council to help ensure membership of the SIT continues to be attractive.  Anna Corr will be the person most directly involved with the administration of the SIT and her contact details are provided above.  Anna works with Ria Robinson, our Director of Membership and Administration; any one of us would be very happy to respond to issues or ideas you have in

connection with the administration of the SIT."
